Going to space —especially deep space — is hard. Just ask the Apollo 11 astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, who voyaged to the lunar surface 60 years ago taking “one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” Despite that momentous landing in the summer of ’69, only a handful of subsequent missions were able to reach the lunar surface, and humans have not returned in over 50 years.
