Job description
The ideal candidate must have Space experience. They will be responsible for overseeing and managing the quality assurance and production assurance processes within our organisation. Their main goal is to ensure that products, processes, and services meet customer requirements and space industry standards. This manager is responsible for ensuring the quality of all procedures, processes and hardware manufactured in their supported areas and driving improvement in the quality of our products.
Responsibilities
- Fully accountable for developing, implementing and maintaining efficient and pragmatic quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure that products, processes, and services developed and delivered by Redwire Space Luxembourg meet customer requirements, cost needs and tailored industry standards, reflecting the adequate balance between the minimum required actions and the need for efficiency (cost and time wise).
- Derive company-generic quality assurance policies and procedures in each and every running project to reflect the customer’s expectations and specific standards in the project environment (for e.g. ECSS, NASA standards, Military standards, IPC, etc.)
- Establish and maintain effective quality control systems to ensure that products and services are produced in compliance with the previously defined policies and procedures
- Conduct regular audits of production processes and procedures to identify improvement areas
- Conduct quality audits to enable companies to be put on Approved Vendors List
- Help engineers form materials and parts database according to quality constraints as per project variables.
- Develop and implement preventive as well as corrective actions to address quality issues and prevent future occurrences such as Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System.
- Collaborate with Program Management and Engineering Leads to identify and resolve quality issues and ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the organization.
- Monitor and analyse key quality metrics, including product defects, customer complaints, and compliance rates, to identify trends and implement improvements.
- Coordinate and manage the quality assurance and production assurance aspects of new product development, ensuring that quality requirements are met throughout the development process.
- Support process pilots in the development of operational efficiency.
- Lead the quality team in the implementation of these processes and company standards for problem solving, non-compliance management and daily quality activities (inspection, non-conformance management, inventory management, etc.)
- Be the voice of the customer.
Qualifications
- Must have held an engineering position in Mechanisms/Robotics and/or Electronics/Electrical fields
- 5+ years of experience in quality and production assurance management is desired
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, tools, and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a team of quality assurance and production assurance professionals
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis, First Article Inspection, and Safety Assurance tools in the organisation
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) is preferred.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Desired Skills
- Experience with design for manufacture and product development life cycle.
- Experience with quality tools including root cause and corrective action, QMS and process auditing and statistical analysis of quality metrics.
- Experience leading an operational team of hourly employees, either in production or quality.
- Graduate degree in a technical or management field.
- Excellent communication to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced/cross-functional environment.
- Establish priorities, work independently and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Effective documentation and configuration control experience.
- ISO 9001/AS9100 experience
