Summary
A critical role across Redwire, Lead Systems Engineer (All Senior levels will be considered) will be responsible for leadership within the Engineering organization, ensuring successful execution consistent with engineering standards and best practices, compliance to customer statement of work, technical specification, and contract deliverables.
This successful candidate will work on-site but can be based in our facilities in either Albuquerque, NM, Longmont, CO, or Littleton, CO. There will be up to 25% travel to other US based Redwire locations.
Responsibilities:
- Establish technical baselines and develop systems engineering plans for design and development verification.
- Define, create, document, implement, and communicate engineering standards and best practices across a diverse space product and space systems business.
- Champion the deployment of proactive engineering processes focused on compliance to customer’s requirements while meeting business objectives and mitigating risk.
- Establish multidiscipline engineering (electrical, mechanical and thermal, etc) guidelines and design principles throughout the product lifecycle, from prototype to flight hardware delivery.
- Serve as Systems Engineering process lead for internal and customer facing technical reviews.
- Work in concert with the development and implementation of Mission Assurance, Operational Improvement, and Lean Initiatives across the company.
- Provide technical Subject Matter Expertise for internal processes, including failure reviews, root cause correct actions, non-conformances, and engineering change orders.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the development of proposal technical content and cost estimating.
- Interface with customers to interpret and negotiate technical requirements.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, continuous improvement and design optimization across the organization.
- Provide training, guidance, and recommendations to engineering and leadership.
- Create competitive advantages by improving company performance.
Ideal Experience:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering.
- Have a passion for Systems Engineering and the development of quality products, systems, and missions.
- Extensive experience in the space industry, including spacecraft and payload architectures and industry standards such as AS9100, TOR, and NASA.
- Understanding of SysML and MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering).
- Strong ability to train, educate, influence, and communicate to align participation in standard processes and best practices.
- Previous experience developing and maintaining engineering processes and best practices and capturing/implementing lessons-learned in a growing low volume, high product mix business
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR regulations. Active Security Clearance is a plus.
