RF Systems Engineer (Will consider all Senior levels)

We design and build innovative systems in a fast-paced environment to meet demanding applications.

We design cutting edge antenna apertures, RF front ends and combined antennas used for space and multi domain applications such as PNT, radar, communications, electronic warfare and directed energy applications. We are developing RF systems for moderate volume, fast design cycle for space, national security, and other well-funded commercial customers.  
 

Summary: 

We have an opportunity for an RF Systems Engineer at our facility in Longmont, CO. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of RF architectures, design new systems and see them through the development life cycle.  We are building active RF systems for new space and multiple domain communications architectures.  You will interface with customers, subcontractors, and the project team to guide the technical development of the RF active system. 

 

Responsibilities: 

As an RF Systems Engineer you will be responsible for: 
  • Act as a collaborative member of a design team in development, qualification, and delivery of high-performance antenna systems for on-orbit and multi domain environments and developing technical work plans. 
  • Ability to work independently, as well as direct and coordinate work of multi-disciplinary engineering teams to assure the successful development of RF systems.  
  • Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers 
  • Develop, manage, and maintain RF system design and its associated documentation - CAD, drawings, analytical results and conclusions, etc. 
  • Developing and owning RF architectures based on customer requirements. 
  • Translate architecture to a design and build plan. 
  • Developing component level active RF designs including microwave circuit design. 
  • See a product from concept to hardware in the lab and helping to launch it at scale production. 
  • Ensure the delivered hardware meets internal and external stakeholder expectations. 
  • Interact with external customers, subcontractors, and the project technical team to guide technical development through strong communication and collaboration.

  • Facilitate electrical system performance, calibration, durability, and environmental testing of developmental components and systems per test plan. 
  • RF system requirement evaluation, initial concept trade-off and development, in-house and customer presentations, travel, and technical proposal writing and cost/schedule estimating. 

 Ideal Experience 

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, Master’s Degree may substitute for two years less of applicable experience. 
  • 10+ years designing and manufacturing active microwave circuitry. 
  • Experience performing satellite level analysis and presenting standard technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, etc.). 
  • Foundation in space-based RF/microwave communications systems or advanced multi domain based communications systems. 
  • Skilled with RF test equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and vector network analyzers. 
  • Familiar with programming languages like Python or Matlab to perform data parsing, data analysis, and test automation. 
  • Strong root cause analysis skills. 
  • Analytical design experience using software and simulation tools such as ADS, CST, FEKO, and HFSS 
  • Experience with antenna range measurements and data manipulation and visualization. 
  • Extensive experience working/communicating with customers to manage expectations and project scope. 
  • Solid background developing technical work plans for new/continuous product development, including estimation of required resources. 
  • Demonstrated experience with risk management activities and strategies. 
  • Experience with leading a team of RF Engineers through a design and develop and test lifecycle.  
  • US Person. 

Desired Skills 

  • Strongly desire experience with antennas integrated apertures and active RF systems. 
  • Strongly desire writing requirement and establishing appropriate verification criteria. 
  • Demonstrated experience writing technical proposal documentation and related technical reports. 
  • Familiarity with and exposure to military and tactical communication and data systems / architectures. 
  • Experiencing with all aspects of microwave testing and test equipment. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in a broad field of engineering, research, evaluation and development for highly complex and technical space, airborne and ground products. 
  • Familiarity with aerospace guidelines such as IPC-A-600F.

Pay Range 
 $109,000 - $170,000/year

 

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy) 
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. 
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will be considered for higher pay.
