Redwire Space seeks a results-driven Senior Robotic Systems Engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge robotic systems. You will guide a diverse team through the design, implementation, and validation of space robotic subsystems, turning customer visions into technical solutions. This role involves managing workflows, technical proposals, and system requirements while ensuring the highest standards of engineering. You will serve as the technical lead, overseeing system verification, managing risk, and acting as the primary technical contact for customers and contractors. You will be responsible for "building the right thing" and "building it right". Your expertise will drive mission success from initial development through on-orbit validation.
Responsibilities:
• Technical Leadership: Lead the end-to-end development of robotic systems, ensuring technical excellence from concept to deployment.
• Requirements Management: Develop, validate, and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability across all levels.
• System Design & Architecture: Drive the system’s architecture, including CONOPS, high-level interfaces, and technical trade-offs.
• Verification & Validation: Oversee system verification, develop test plans, review test procedures, and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Risk Management: Lead technical risk identification, mitigation, and resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
• Customer Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, ensuring alignment between technical teams and customer expectations.
• Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive program documentation for both internal use and external communication with customers and contractors.
Ideal Experience:
• Educational Background: MSc in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in space systems engineering, with a focus on space robotics and mechanisms. Proven experience managing complex technical projects and multi-disciplinary teams across a complete program lifecycle (Phase A to E).
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of space systems and space environment, including structural, thermal, radiation, and EMI/EMC considerations. Experience with system design, development, and testing.
• Standards & Tools: Familiarity with ECSS standards and systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, JAMA). Experience with technical documentation and compliance with space project standards.
• Processes: Experience and implementation of Systems Engineering processes (requirements management, requirements verification and validation).
• Software Proficiency: Knowledge of SOLIDWORKS and Microsoft Office suite.
• Communication & Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience guiding technical teams and managing technical communication with customers.
• Language: Proficient in written and verbal English.
Desired Skills:
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage customer relationships and lead diverse, cross-functional teams.
• Ability to coordinate technical efforts across disciplines and time zones
• 3+ years of working with JAMA.
• Experience with ALTIUM.
• Experience with Model Based System Engineering (based on SysML).
