Summary
We have a current opportunity for a Digital or Analog Staff Electrical Design Engineer located at our new facility in Georgetown, IN. We are looking for someone who is excited about commercial space and the challenges of operating commercial electronics in the harshness of space. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of circuit design including digital and analog design, test and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design, build and test of space-based electronics for multiple projects
- Electronic circuit design with layout using ECAD software
- Design VAC and VDC analog circuits, up to 250V. Designs may include sensors and components connected by ADC and DAC circuitry.
- Design digital circuits with microcontrollers and high-speed communication. This may include protocols such as I2C, CAN, RS-232, RS-422, USB and Ethernet.
- Design electromechanical systems that may include step motors, DC motors, miniature solenoids, miniature pumps, feedback sensors and switches. Knowledge of control system principles and feedback loops.
- Design electronics for high-reliability and EMI sensitive environments. Knowledge of EMI/EMC/ESD standards and testing.
- Proving out a design using simulation and mathematics
- Interacting technically with customers and product/project management
- Compile information and documentation for design reviews, verifications, and presentations
- Conduct applicable reviews, meetings, and technical presentations
Ideal Experience
- Bachelors Degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline, or other related Field
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing electronic circuits using ECAD based programs
- PCB/Layout experience
- Simulation experience using a Spice based tool
- Experience working with Software and Mechanical Engineers
- Experience working with Test, Procurement and Manufacturing Teams
Desired Skills
- Two successful product releases
- 7 years of professional, relevant experience
- Experience designing for commercial space, or traditional space with commercial product experience
- Experience with Eagle, Altium or equivalent.
Seeking Experience in either Analog or Digital circuit design:

- Low speed (<1Mpbs) digital communications
- ARM or equivalent µC experience
- 100-T and 1000-T Ethernet Design
- QSPI, I2C, LVDS serial communications expertise
- USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 experience
- CAN experience
- RS-232, RS-422 and variants
- Understanding of basic concepts of C programming language

- SMPS design experience with isolated and non-isolated power supplies
- Common and Differential Mode power filtering
- Active filter and amplifier design
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC/ESD standards and testing.
- Knowledge of radiation-tolerant, space-flight electronics.
