Summary:
 
 
Redwire Space Missions LLC has a current opportunity for a Sr. Staff, Radiation Effects Engineer In this role you will support all Electrical design, analysis, and/or testing for radiation effects for our Space Missions Design Assurance Team.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Execute validation of space program designs by establishing radiation requirements and execution thru analysis and test.
  • Collaborate with program and Electrical Engineering teams to ensure survivability and availability of space flight hardware 
  • Conduct environment analysis for radiation effects on space systems
  • Plan and coordinate radiation testing based on flight like conditions
  • Generate radiation reports at the part, circuit and system analysis levels
  • Assess impact of space radiation on spacecraft product, including SEE, TID and spacecraft charging
  • Create and maintain companywide knowledge base for radiation effects.
  • Perform risk assessment when needed.
 
Ideal Experience:
  • B.S. (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Nuclear Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in design, analysis, and/or testing for radiation effects on electronics and materials
  • Some travel will be required 
Desired Skills:
  • standard radiation environment modeling tools (ex: IRENE, OMERE, SIRE2, SPENVIS, OLTARIS, CREME96, SAPPHIRE, ESP/PSYCHIC)
  • Experience with electrical subsystems and electrical circuit analyses for the purposes of implementing mitigations for radiation susceptibility
  • Should be familiar with PCB and PCA fabrication classification and assembly standards for space-based operations
  • Understanding of EEE NASA part standards necessary for classification of parts and assemblies as COTS+, Class 3, Class 2, and Class 1 mission requirements

Pay range
$147,000 - $165,000/yr.
 
How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.  For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will be considered for higher pay.
