We have a current opportunity for a Sr. Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) as a part of the Cybersecurity & Compliance team located at our Littleton, Colorado facility. In this role you will report to the Cybersecurity Architect. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, and a passion for securing space-related technology and infrastructure. This role involves engineering and implementing advanced cybersecurity solutions, including reverse engineering, to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data in support of space missions. The ISSE works on a team of Information Security Professionals who support our project teams to our products are developed and delivered securely to our customers and helps ensure secure operations of networks in specific locations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity controls and solutions for space systems and networks.
- Support the engineering of secure systems and software, integrating cybersecurity requirements into the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Conduct security risk assessments and vulnerability assessments on information systems and networks, with a focus on engineering solutions to mitigate identified risks.
- Perform reverse engineering on software and hardware to identify vulnerabilities and security flaws.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to incorporate robust security measures and best practices into all stages of system and software development.
- Develop, review, and maintain security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts, and other technical documentation.
- Perform security testing and evaluations, including penetration testing, static and dynamic code analysis, and system hardening.
- Assist in the investigation and response to cybersecurity incidents, providing technical analysis and recommendations for remediation.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging threats, and advancements in cybersecurity engineering to proactively address security risks.
- Participate in security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, with an emphasis on technical and engineering compliance.
Ideal Experience:
- Completed bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 5 or more years of directly related work experience.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, with a focus on engineering and technical solutions.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, RMF).
- Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM solutions, and vulnerability management tools.
- Experience with reverse engineering tools and techniques, including static and dynamic analysis, disassemblers, and debuggers.
- Must be a US Citizen and not a dual citizen, able to obtain and maintain a security clearance from the US Government.
Desired Skills:
- Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP (Associate), OSCP, CPTS or similar.
- Experience with secure software development practices and tools, including DevSecOps.
- Knowledge of space systems, embedded systems, and aerospace engineering is a plus.
- Experience with encryption technologies and secure communication protocols.
- Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in cybersecurity.
- Currently holds a security clearance and has worked on classified systems.
- DoD experience in Information Systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
