Summary:
Redwire Space, Inc. is seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Manager to support our global trade compliance program with emphasis on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) manufacturing and serve as a strategic partner in international operations with primary focus on our newly acquired Edge Autonomy business unit. This position will be considered on-site, allowing for occasional remote work up to two days per week depending on business needs. The position will be based at one of the following facilities: San Luis Obispo, CA, Huntsville, AL, or Ann Arbor, MI. The successful candidate must be within a commutable distance to one of these locations. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Global Trade Strategy and Compliance and be responsible for contributing to key global trade compliance infrastructure elements including export classification, adherence to U.S. trade regulations and supporting our growth in both domestic and international markets.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct export classification of products, components, associated technologies, and software in accordance with U.S. trade control regulations.
- Determine export license requirements, prepare, submit and manage various ITAR and EAR export/import authorizations, exemptions and exceptions.
- Must have a strong understanding of global trade regulations, including the EAR, ITAR, FCPA, OFAC sanctions, U.S. Customs and foreign trade controls
- Assist in the review, development, implementation, and maintenance of trade compliance policies and procedures, including creating streamlined processes for product classification, international sales validation, and employee training that can be efficiently managed with limited resources.
- Conduct regular export compliance audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Conduct targeted due diligence screening of visitors, customers, vendors, and operators, and other third parties against restricted party lists, potentially with special attention to end-use verification and compliance.
- Coordinate with Logistics/Shipping on the import and export of items and materials ensuring compliance with any special handling requirements while maintaining efficient delivery timelines.
- Provide supplemental export compliance training and guidance to employees across the organization as necessary.
- Work directly with all team members to integrate export compliance into daily operations, serving as the lead point of contact for trade compliance matters while coordinating with the Export Compliance Office, external legal counsel and customs brokers as needed.
Ideal Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, international trade, or related field with 10 or more years of relevant work experience in export compliance, preferably with experience in the space or aerospace industry. Willing to consider experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience with and understanding of EAR and ITAR classification determination processes as well as FCPA and OFAC sanctions and U.S. Customs and foreign trade controls.
- Experience in preparing, submitting and managing license applications and other authorization requests (such as ITAR and Commerce licenses), restricted party screening software and/or other automated licensing and compliance systems and resources.
- Experience in developing and implementing a comprehensive export compliance program including development of policies, procedures and training programs
- Possess, or have the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time to support various business activities.
Desired Skills:
- Additional certifications such as Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO), Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.
- Knowledge of emerging Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) regulations and compliance frameworks highly valued.
- Commercial and Government Contracting experience, including experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (FAR and DFARs).
- Experience with controls and requirements related to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Strong time management, prioritization, analytical and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and dedication to customer service.
- Proficient in using compliance software and databases.
- Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, FAA DroneZone, and UAS registration systems. Experience with UAS flight logging and compliance tracking systems a plus.
Pay Range
$125,000 - $185,000/yr.
